Julia Quinn's Bridgerton A Sexy Historical Romance

Do you love to read a beautiful love stories? You can put me at the top! One thing that will always remain a guilty pleasure for me is romance, love stories, and historical romances. I don’t remember when I first met Julia Quinn and Bridgerton Series. It was a book fair, so I decided to buy a book and try it. I guess she was the first romance writer I met. I think it was a time in the past when I think it was not very common in our lives to buy books through online shopping.

Regency Romance

Regency romance books are the most read sub-genres among historical books. So, what is the place in the history of this period of balls, corsets, and chaperones? The Regency period includes the period between 1811 and 1820 when King George IV was regent. However, the books are mainly processed between 1800 and 1830 in this period. The Regency period, when his father was a surrogate due to his illness and mental instability, also dates back to the Victorian era, which took office in 1837.

It was a period when there was a lot of discrimination according to the economic class of people. Upper-class society has become more refined and further thickens the line between the elite and the common people. And because of the comfortable standard of living they had, the upper class dominated all kinds of pleasurable activities that life had to offer at that time. But they also had very strict rules within themselves. The Regent Prince’s pouring of money into arts such as dance, music, and architecture was also decisive for that period.

These novels offer a different perspective to the readers by telling the stories of marriage and love, and how women conform to social norms. At the same time, Regency Novels shed light on England’s social and political history. Regency Novels offer readers a unique world where romance, history, and societal norms converge. These novels present history and romance together, attracting readers’ attention.

Julia Quinn & Regency Romance

If we leave the history of the work behind, Julia Quinn in the Bridgerton series shows us how well-mannered and decent this upper-class society seems, but how scandalous it is inside, and it is easy to read, fluid, and fun from the outside.

The first thing I will tell you about the Bridgerton series is this. When you read each book in the series, your favorite story and characters are constantly changing and shifting to what you are reading. The fact that she was able to provide this fascinated me when I read it. And I am a person who connects to the stories and characters at the maximum level. And with each new book, I was deciding that I liked it the most. I guess I still can’t rank them by my favorite.

Even if you met the Bridgerton family through Netflix, come on, that magic between the pages is much different. But I can say that the characters that popular culture will offer us are not exactly in harmony with the characters in the books. However, it is perhaps one of the series that I find the most compatible among the adapted characters in general. The show managed to pull me in. It seems that a lot of effort has been spent on this new world created with the crazy effort spent on the series. And I can say that the differences between the world of the book and the series are excellent and delicious.

Family, Love, and Intrigue: Bridgerton Series

  1. The Duke and I: Simon Basset wants to avoid the attention of other women by making a fake engagement to Daphne Bridgerton from his “glamorous bachelor” status. The unexpected turn of events is our favorite!
  2. The Viscount Who Loved Me: Anthony Bridgerton urgently needs a wife. And Edwina Sheffield is the sweetest, most innocent, and favorite candidate of the season. But her older sister, Kate, is worried about Anthony’s character and his relationship with Edwina.
  3. An Offer From a Gentleman: Sophie Beckett is not the daughter of a wealthy man, so her relationship with handsome Benedict Bridgerton is forbidden.
  4. Romancing Mister Bridgerton: Colin Bridgerton is the most active and energetic child in the family. Penelope Featherington adorns Colin’s dreams when he least expects them, and a story full of secrets awaits us.
  5. To Sir Phillip, With Love: Eloise Bridgerton is one of the most interesting characters in the family. She decides to marry her pen pal Phillip Crane with the letters she wrote secretly from everyone, but she doesn’t know what kind of person he is.
  6. When He Was Wicked: Michael Stirling falls in love with his friend Francesca Bridgerton, but Francesca is the widow of Michael’s cousin John.
  7. It’s In His Kiss: Hyacinth is the youngest daughter of the Bridgerton family and explores with Gareth St Clair a secret from his past that belongs to the St Clair family.
  8. On the Way to the Wedding: Gregory Bridgerton, unlike most people he knows, is a romantic who believes in true love and believes he’s going to hit it off in an instant! Although he is in love, Miss Hermione Watson has no response to this love. Everything turns out unexpectedly as Hermione’s close friend Lady Lucinda plans to help create this love.

Bridgerton’s Feminist Perspective: Thinking with Julia Quinn’s Female Characters

The Bridgerton series depicts a close-knit family based on family relationships. Even if it is a simple thing to always show that siblings care about each other under all circumstances, it is a very important message. This message adds extra meaning to the series for me.

Although I have longed to see men and women equal throughout the history of humanity, we know that equality has not been achieved in the present time. Unfortunately, we see that inequality persists with all kinds of violence, whether in the family, at work, or in the world, even in the most developed societies. Perhaps, at some point in our lives, each of us may even be experiencing this mobbing. But remember, you are worth more than anything and you only have one life, I hope you can live it the way you want!

The Julia Quinn Bridgerton series also shows that family ties and fraternity are important. And although the current era doesn’t seem to care much about it, I have seen it as a series that cares about women’s right to speak. And the fact that she squeezed into that romance and escapades also amused me while reading it and touched something inside me.

Bridgerton: The Journey of Books Becoming a Hit Show

I’m talking about a series that’s been a long time ago. The first book was published in 2000. But thanks to its revival as a Netflix production, it is a literary series that shines again. Also, it made me realize the existence of the book “The Bridgerton- Happily Ever After“. Which was released for the continuation of the series. Already excited for a belated read!

They have also created a book that tells the story of the Queen Charlotte character. It was born of the series, by Julia Quinn and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes, who appeared in the series Netflix series. And the fact that the series of this story created by Shondaland is also coming to Netflix in May 2023 is extremely exciting news for everyone (me too!) who loves this series, and this created world.
